Snack Attack! Selling Snacks As Fundraisers

Everyone eats snacks, most on a daily basis; that is why snack fundraisers can be such a fast and effective way to raise money.

What Is A Snack Fundraiser?

Any fundraising drive that focuses on the sale of snack foods can be considered a snack fundraiser. This can include candy bar and chocolate sales as well.

How Are Snacks Sold In A Snack Fundraiser?

When you fundraise with a snack food sale, you have two options.

The first option is to collect orders through a snack foods brochure which people will buy essentially as grocery-type items and stock for their home use. Money is collected upfront and the order will need to be sorted and distributed upon delivery.

The second option is to buy snack foods wholesale through a fundraising company or wholesale marketer. Your organization will need to spend money upfront, and then sell the snacks at events or public traffic areas (such as a store front with the store manager's permission). These sales will be on the spot cash and carry sales. There is no need for further delivery and distribution, but an investment in initial product stock and adequate storage will be required.

Where Is The Best Place to Hold A Snack Fundraiser?

Most organizations find snacks sell best as refreshment at an event of some kind. Examples of good places to sell snacks are at school games or sporting events, at a refreshment table as part of a larger fundraiser such as a winter carnival, at dances, recitals, and so on. If your organization regularly holds events or has access to area events, investing in some fast-cash raising snack foods is a good idea.

Other places to run ongoing snack fundraising sales is in a break room or at a table during lunch and break periods, where allowed. Anywhere people might be looking for some refreshment that has good traffic flow is a good place to hold a snack fundraiser. Be sure to check with building managers and administration for permission and guidelines (schools may insist that snacks are healthy and may prohibit candy sales during school hours).

What Kind Of Snacks Can We Sell?

Snack fundraising supply companies offer a very wide array of snack products that may be sold as fundraisers. This includes the aforementioned candy bar sales, but there are other options such as beef jerky, dried fruit, candy, chips, granola bars, popcorn and much more.

Fundraising with snacks is profitable because products have a fairly decent rate of markup and sales are quick and easy if planned accordingly. With good planning and placement, every snack food fundraiser can be a great success.
